As Clinical Chair Dr Chris Duffy directs the clinical leads in their decision-making processes, is the link for lay members, oversees the work of NHS HMR CCG and chairs the bi-monthly Governing Body meetings. Dr Duffy is also a voting member of the Integrated Commissioning Board and Vice Chair of Strategic Place Board (formerly Health and Wellbeing Board). Dr Duffy is NHS HMR CCG’s Caldicott Guardian and is a practicing GP in Heywood.

Chris began his career as a Surgical House Officer in 1985 at Birch Hill Hospital, where he also studied as a medical student. With worldwide experience working in Canada, the Isle of Man and Australia, Chris went on to complete his general practice training In Rochdale.

In 1992 Chris became a partner at his current practice in Heywood, later representing Heywood on the Local Medical Committee. Chris went on to work on the Professional Executive Committee of the Heywood and Middleton PCT, became Chairman of Heywood and Middleton Practice Based Commissioning Group and Vice Chairman of HMR PCT.

Chris is passionate about making a difference to the lives and health of Rochdale borough residents, with the help of Rochdale Borough Council and other neighbouring CCGs.

Outside work, Chris enjoys playing football, skiing, travelling and spending time with family and friends. For 18 years he was the club Doctor for Rochdale Hornets Rugby League Club. Chris lives with his family in Whitworth.
