The spring issue of livin' it! is available for you to read and pick up from locations throughout the borough.

NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) produces a quarterly newsletter called livin’ it! The newsletter updates people about local healthcare services and offers a snapshot into the CCG’s decision-making role.

In this edition residents can learn about a new text messaging service that is allowing local nurses to support young people in the borough, offering help and advice with issues such as bullying, emotional health and wellbeing and general illnesses. There is also information on a new programme launched to help ensure asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients in the Rochdale borough are receiving the right care for their condition and details of how a healthier snacking campaign is urging families to look for 100 calorie snacks, two a day max.

The edition includes news of how the CCG and Rochdale Borough Council are tackling smoking by signing up to the NHS smokefree pledge, which supports Greater Manchester’s radical ambition to become the first tobacco free city in the UK, in an initiative called Making Smoking History being led by Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. There is also information on a new online triage service that is being piloted at four GP practices allowing patients to access GP services quickly and easily via their smartphone, tablet or computer.

Dr Chris Duffy, local GP and HMR CCG Chair, said: “Producing livin’ it! our quarterly newsletter is a significant part of the work we do to engage with local residents about the kinds of healthcare services they want to see in the borough, giving them an insight into the types of services and schemes available and helping them to understand what is happening with health and social care in the area they live.”

Copies of livin' it! are available to pick up from your local GP practice, dental practice, library, pharmacy, children’s centre and other outlets.

You can also view livin' it! online here and you can subscribe to receive each edition by email directly to your inbox.
