GP practices in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale will remain open on the Easter Bank Holidays to help the NHS cope with the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.
People in the borough will be able to access their GP practice, as usual on both Good Friday (Friday 10 April 2020) and Easter Monday (Monday 13 April 2020).
The change to traditional Easter opening hours comes as GPs across the country move to help alleviate the growing pressures on out of hours services.
Dr Chris Duffy, Chair, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Due to the unprecedented situation the NHS is in currently, on Good Friday and Easter Monday GP practices will be available in the same way they have been over the past two weeks.
If you have symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature or a new, continuous cough), use the NHS 111 coronavirus service at www.111.nhs.uk/covid-19 or call NHS 111 free.
For all other matters please ring your GP practice and if necessary arrangements will be made for you to be seen. Please do not turn up to the GP practice unless you have been asked to. This will help you stay safe, protect the NHS and save lives.”
